Nephew Doug brings celebrities to DC!

Terri, Hank and I went to DC today to meet our nephew Doug, who is interviewing for a cool job there tomorrow. So we were at our favorite bar in Georgetown for dinner and drinks, and Andy Roddick walked in! You probably know I am a huge tennis fan, so this was a total trip for me! This was about 6 hours after he had just won the Legg Mason tournament and picked up a check for $75,000. Funny, he didn't volunteer to pick up our tab! I told him I noticed he was hitting his backhand a little flat, and maybe he should roll over the top of it a bit more. He seemed to appreciate the advice.

Funny thing is, he was out drinking with the guy who he beat in the final today! His name is John Isner, check this guy out! He's like 6 foot 10! Who am I, Gary Coleman?? Someone call the National Zoo, Sasquatch is on the loose in Georgetown!! And he needs some sun on his sasquatch feet!

Of course the best thing about the night is we got to see our nephew Doug, who is doing great, looking great, and going to blow them away in his interview tomorrow. Good luck Doug!!

MN Trip plans

Quick note to let the MN folks know: we have booked tickets for our trip up there in August. My mom is coming to Richmond to pick up Hank and bring him back there on Friday the 17th. Then I am flying up on Wednesday the 22nd; I'll be there for a week until Wed the 29th. Unfortunately Terri isn't going to make it because she's fresh out of vacation time. No big plans except for a trip to Grandma Vi's over the weekend, and I have a night out with friends on Monday the 20th. Hope to see you! Sam

311 Concert at VA Beach July 22

Terri and I went to a concert at VA Beach on the 22nd....it was 311 headlining with Matisyahu playing first. It was awesome!! We spent all day Sunday at the beach, then checked into our hotel right before heading to the amphitheater. It's a really nice outdoor stage that seats 20-some thousand people, mostly on the big lawn area, and it's just 10 minutes from the beach. The show was terrific and we had a blast (though we all went broke on the $10 beers!). Sorry no pics from the concert, they wouldn't let our cameras in. On Monday morning we woke up and unfortunately had to head home so Terri could put in a half day at the job (damn work!!). We're going to try to head back for another show in August. The people with us in the pics are my nephew Chris (blonde), his girlfriend Heather, and my other nephew Matt.

Motorcycle Ride July 21

Uncle Kim, these pics are for you buddy! I went for a long ride with my brother-in-law Robbie a couple Saturdays ago...down to Charlottesville and then all around the countryside around the city. We met his brother for breakfast at 8am and then rode until lunch, then we came home around 2pm. The building we are at is an old post office in a small town called Wingina. Really pretty day and such cool scenery right near the Blue Ridge mountains. My bike is the one without the shield.

Two more Hank Pics!

Hi, here are three pics of Hank from the past week...two are from a mall where we were playing with one of his buddies (Grayson) on Friday night. And the other is from Uncle Rob and Aunt Julie's house last weekend - he's trying to figure out how to ride his trike!

More vacation pics

Here are some funny pics from the summer...first, a few pics from the Las Vegas trip in March, which was awesome! We had a great suite at the Mirage and it was just plain good times. Look at Ben in the bathtub! Like a true Vegas pimp! And that's cousin Ted passed out on the couch after a long day of bible study.

Second, I mentioned that we were all in MN over the 4th of July...we didn't get a ton of pics becasue we didn't have a camera with us, but I do have a couple shots of Ben and I sharing a tender moment at the Hillcrest bar on Big Sandy. Is ANY of that beer actually finding its way to my mouth??? Oh well, I'm sure I didn't need it at that point anyway. This was actually on the night of July 3rd, and group of troublemakers was me, Terri, Ben, my 2nd cousin Heather (from Houston TX) and her husband Brian, and my aunt Ardie!. It was an awesome time! Who knew they stocked Patron at Hillcrest???

Catching up - summer pics

Hi everyone - once again I've let a bunch of time slip by and I also couldn't post due to some technical problems with the site, but we are back! Things are going well here in Richmond, it is always hot and usually sunny, with some crazy storms that roll in once in a while. We've spent a lot of time this summer in Minneapolis...2 weeks in early June, and another 10 days or so over the 4th of July. So despite not living there, we've been around quite a bit, which has been great. Of course that is much easier to do when you're not working! Which is a long story in itself, and I know some of you don't know that one yet, but I will cover it later. Short story is I am no longer working at Capital One but am still getting paid through the summer and into Fall. Not a bad deal!

Here are some summer pictures of Hank...these are from a concert we went to in May or so...I think it was Live?? We had a good time.

Also, some pics from when my parents were here in Richmond in the spring. They were here 4 or 5 days. Some pics are from our trip to Monticello, the home that Thomas Jefferson built outside of Charlotesville VA.
More soon!
